The peak blood concentration of injected gadopentetate dimeglumine depends on the bolus injection rate (12–14). The signal intensity obtained with the spoiled GRE sequences (3D fast field echo and 3D turbo field echo) increases according to the gadopentetate dimeglumine concentration . Therefore, with a spoiled GRE sequence, a fast injection rate (2–5 mL/sec) is used. However, a nonspoiled GRE sequence does not show high signal intensity when the maximum gadopentetate dimeglumine concentration reaches more than 2 mmol/L. Therefore, with a nonspoiled GRE sequence, slow injection of nondiluted gadopentetate dimeglumine or rapid injection of diluted gadopentetate dimeglumine would be recommended.
