IMAGING OF THE LYMPH NODES IN NECK USING MRI
- Axial T2-weighted, fat-saturated turbo spin echo (TSE/FSE) or we can use STIR T2 FSE
- Axial T1-weighted spin echo (SE)
Post Contrast "Neck Lyph nodes MRI Sequences"
- Axial T1-weighted, fat saturated spin echo (SE)
Optional sequences "Neck Lyph nodes MRI Protocol"
- According to the lesion post contrast Coronal/Sagital T1 Fat Sat images if required.
- Coronal STIR/T1 4mm without contrast images
Technical notes of "Neck Lyph nodes MRI Protocol"
- Axial images are parallel to hard palate from skull base to carina.
- Coronal images are perpendicular to hard palate from nose to cervical spinal canal.
- All these MRI Axial sequences are done by 2mm slice thickness with 0.2 mm inter-space micro-mri imaging if it is not possible in your scanner 4mm slices preferred.
- Loco-regional (cervical) metastatic lymphadenopathy is a major factor in determining the prognosis for
the patient and determines the nature of any surgical intervention.
